Hello comrades.
I am writing from New Zealand (and I am using Google Translate; please forgive any mistakes).
I have a 3018 and I wanted to update the spindle. I learned a lot from this forum thread (thanks everyone) and decided to buy the LD42WS-250W. I also bought the LD-WS4810 driver which is also manufactured by LongdiaoCNC. I understand that this is the "official" driver for the LD42WS-250W.
My spindle and driver arrived recently, so I am testing them. When I set the top speed, the tachometer reads 15,000 rpm. I confirmed this with my non-contact tachometer (see picture). The spindle is supposed to have a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm, so the problem obviously exists.
I asked the seller on Aliexpress about this very high speed. The salesperson tells me that I bought the wrong driver - my LD-WS4810 driver is "RA02", but I should have bought the "RA03" model. The salesperson tells me that I need to buy a new model "RA03" and I cannot use the "RA02". Both models look exactly the same.
Comrades, what do you think? The Chinese seller is trying to take my money, or is he right? I have seen many people on this forum using different drivers with the LD42WS-250W. If I make it so that the spindle does not exceed 12000 RPM (so it does not burn out), do you think everything should be fine?
